Dhoom means “celebration” in Hindi, and the new Danforth restaurant lives up to its name in every direction. Opened in December 2025 in the former home of longtime brewpub Louis Cifer, Dhoom comes from brothers Sohail and Sajid Rayani, who previously built Royal Baithak and the Biryaniwalla franchise into local staples.
The transformation from Louis Cifer’s dark, wood-panelled, leather-topped-barstool aesthetic to Dhoom’s warm, wicker-and-tapestry interior is dramatic by design — the space now resembles a lavish banquet hall built for birthdays and anniversaries as much as a regular dinner out. The restaurant’s food leans into modern South Asian cooking: charcoal-grilled lamb chops, a rich Goan prawn curry, and a Dhoom Signature cocktail built on guava oleo saccharum and tequila. “We didn’t want to sell just food,” marketing director Silvia Puthuva tells Streets Of Toronto — the restaurant’s programming leans into live music and jamming-session energy meant to capture the spirit of celebration back home.
