The Beaches Is Getting a New Restaurant That Wants to Be Your Neighbourhood’s Third Place

The Beaches neighbourhood is about to gain a new anchor establishment, and the team behind Leuty’s on Queen has a clear and compelling vision for what it wants to be: not just a restaurant, not just a bar, but a genuine community gathering place that serves equally well for a casual weeknight drink or a special occasion dinner.

Taking over the space left behind by the much-loved Mira Mira Diner, Leuty’s — named after the neighbourhood’s iconic lifeguard station — is the project of Gabby Martindale and Kamden Kennedy, two hospitality veterans with decades of combined experience across Ontario. Both grew up near the water — Waterloo and Thunder Bay respectively — and the connection to the lakeside Beaches community feels natural and sincere.

The menu will feature refined takes on familiar, comforting dishes: elevated food that doesn’t intimidate, crafted with intention and care. A curated cocktail list, supplemented with a thoughtful selection of wine and beer, rounds out the offering. The team has made clear that customer feedback will shape the restaurant as it grows, building a genuine dialogue with the community it serves.

The goal, as Gabby puts it, is to sit comfortably between the area’s great pubs and its fine dining restaurants — “elevated, but not intimidating; polished, but still relaxed.” That’s a gap worth filling, and Leuty’s seems positioned to do it well.

The restaurant is currently deep in renovations with a target opening in early August 2026, right before the summer winds down. If you live in or near the Beaches, this is one opening worth watching closely.

Keep an eye on Leuty’s social channels for opening updates and reservations. The neighbourhood’s next great gathering spot is almost here.
