Nightclub with exotic animals opens July 1

Babylon, a new nightclub promising “exotic animals in cages,” opens its doors this weekend in Houston.

The 6,000-square-foot club is located at 612 Hadley, the former site of Howl At the Moon. It opens Friday, and the weekend’s festivities will include a live zebra and camel. (Apologies to whoever is doing the cleanup.) It’s owned by the Denver-based Jet Hospitality.

The club has stressed that “any and all exotic animals are accompanied by professionals outside of the nightclub and are never inside.” They will be fenced off with their own space, and patrons will not be able to pet them.

Babylon’s interior features an Ancient Persian theme with gold embellishments. It will feature in-house and celebrity DJs. A lineup has yet to be announced. It will be open 10 p.m.-2 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

In case you’re wondering, the club has no association with the iconic, imaginary club Babylon at the heart of the TV series “Queer as Folk?

Jet Hospitality, whose nightlife, restaurant and hotel concepts are located in the Central Colorado area, plans to expand more into Houston and Texas.
