It started with one shop on the Danforth in 2022. Four years later, Juicy Birds is a flock of more than a dozen, and downtown Toronto was the one place it had not yet landed.
The Nashville-style hot chicken chain was preparing to open its first downtown location. Since that original opening, it has grown to 14 locations stretching from Aurora to Etobicoke and from Waterloo to Whitby, and it had further spots planned for Bowmanville and Kingston. Online, the brand has built a serious following, with nearly 60,000 Instagram followers and 68,000 on TikTok.
The chain’s rise says something about how Toronto eats. Hot chicken has become a staple of the city’s casual dining scene, and the brands that win are the ones that pair strong flavour with social-media-friendly presentation. A downtown address puts Juicy Birds in front of office workers, students and late-night crowds who can turn a good spot into a daily habit.
