TIFF Turns Up: 10 Wild Nights of Celebs, Street Parties & Red-Carpet Madness in Toronto

Toronto’s about to get lit—TIFF is back, and this year it’s bigger, louder, and more electric than ever. The 50th anniversary of the Toronto International Film Festival runs from September 4–14, 2025, and it’s taking over the city with ten straight nights of premieres, celebrity chaos, and parties you’ll be bragging about for years. Forget quiet cinema vibes—this is the film fest where Hollywood collides with nightlife energy.

King Street West transforms into Festival Street from September 4–7, turning the Entertainment District into a pedestrian playground. Expect live music stages, art installations, street eats, and surprise celebrity appearances. It’s the kind of street party where you can sip a cocktail, bump into Ryan Reynolds, and catch an impromptu DJ set all within a few blocks.

Over in Yorkville, things get even more photogenic with the Rogers TIFF 50 Timescape, running September 5–7. This glowing multimedia hub fuses music, art, and red-carpet action into one giant Insta-trap. With immersive visuals, live performances, and screens pumping real-time red-carpet feeds, it’s basically a content creator’s dream come true.

The star power this year is off the charts. Toronto is about to welcome Angelina Jolie, Keanu Reeves, Ryan Reynolds, Scarlett Johansson, Idris Elba, Natalie Portman, Dwayne Johnson, Paul Mescal, Jodie Foster, and dozens more. Think of it as Hollywood’s biggest block party, except the block is ours.

On the big screen, the premieres are stacked. Colin Hanks’ “John Candy: I Like Me” kicks things off, paying tribute to a Canadian comedy legend. Then there’s Rian Johnson’s highly anticipated “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery”, dropping September 6. Angelina Jolie struts into “Couture,” Keanu Reeves stars in Aziz Ansari’s “Good Fortune,” and Sydney Sweeney laces up her gloves in the boxing drama “Christy.” With wildcards like “Roofman” and Guillermo del Toro’s latest monster madness, TIFF’s lineup is fire.

The glam doesn’t stop there—the TIFF Tribute Awards hit the Fairmont Royal York on September 7. This year, Channing Tatum takes home a top honor for Roofman, joined by industry icons like Jodie Foster, Idris Elba, Guillermo del Toro, and Catherine O’Hara. It’s the festival’s most exclusive night, but the buzz always spills into Toronto’s nightlife scene.

And let’s not forget the streets themselves. Toronto becomes a living movie set during TIFF—celebs ducking into taco shops, flash mobs erupting on King Street, and fans chasing limos down Queen West. Even the TTC reroutes around the festival footprint, so walking the strip becomes part of the adventure.

While the red carpets grab the headlines, the film lineup is global and unapologetically bold. From Jafar Panahi’s Cannes winner “It Was Just An Accident” to Korean world premieres and Indigenous cinema, TIFF is serving up culture with serious bite.

But TIFF isn’t just about movies—it’s about the energy that takes over the city. The coveted People’s Choice Award often predicts the Oscars, but the real win is being in Toronto when it’s the world’s hottest nightlife destination. Ten days of stars, parties, and unforgettable chaos—this is where the city truly doesn’t sleep.

So charge your phone, polish your party fits, and keep your eyes open—you never know who you’ll be dancing next to at 2 a.m. Toronto, it’s time to turn up for TIFF. – Richard De Sousa
