How to Do a Proper Toronto Bar Crawl — Neighbourhood by Neighbourhood

A Toronto bar crawl done right is one of the great urban pleasures. Here’s how to build one that actually works:

Start with dinner and drinks in Kensington Market. The neighbourhood’s eclectic energy is best absorbed early in the evening, before the crowds peak. Grab a cocktail at one of the independent bars on Augusta Avenue and eat at one of the international restaurants that make the Market what it is.

Move east to Queen West. This is the part of the night where the evening picks up pace. The Drake Hotel is always a solid anchor. Walk east toward Ossington and explore the side streets — some of the city’s best cocktail bars don’t have big signs.

Hit the Entertainment District for the late-night hours. By 11 p.m., King Street is fully alive. Choose your venue based on the vibe you want — Portland Square if you want late dining, DPRTMNT if you want a proper club night, Lavelle if you want rooftop energy.

End somewhere interesting. The best nights don’t end at 2 a.m. at the obvious spot. Find an after-hours venue or a late-night food spot (Little Baba by Amal is open late) and let the night land somewhere memorable.

The key to a good Toronto bar crawl is movement. The city rewards exploration and punishes staying too long in one spot on a Saturday night.
