Set to open at 1001 Queen St. E., in a spot that most recently served as a condo showroom, New Era is being built as a genuine passion project by its ownership team, who describe the response from the neighbourhood so far as overwhelmingly warm — even before a single burger has been flipped.
The concept keeps things refreshingly simple. Everything is made fresh to order, no shortcuts, using what the team calls premium ingredients across a menu of classic cheeseburgers (with or without bacon, single or double patty), grilled and crispy chicken sandwiches, and a vegetarian option for those steering clear of meat. It’s not reinventing the wheel — it’s polishing it. And in a strip already saturated with plant-based options, New Era is quietly filling a gap for diners who specifically want a straightforward, meat-forward, quick-service burger done well.
The space is still mid-construction, so there’s no confirmed opening date just yet, but the team says they’re aiming to open “very soon.” For a neighbourhood that clearly has an appetite for burgers no matter how many are already on the menu, that’s good news for anyone keeping a close eye on the Queen and Pape corridor.
