A couple has sparked a debate after making an unconventional request for their wedding reception, which one guest described as “bizarre.”<\/p>\n

In a Reddit post on the Wedding Shaming forum, a woman shared that she and her husband attended his friend’s wedding, where the couple had booked a luxurious mansion in an upscale area for both the ceremony and dinner. However, due to venue restrictions that prohibited music after 9 pm, the couple decided to skip having music altogether to save money.<\/p>

Instead, the couple asked their guests to leave the venue by 9 pm and join them at a crowded nightclub in a different part of the city, where guests would have to pay for their own cover charge, drinks, and dancing. According to the woman, the couple referred to this plan as their “reception.”<\/p>\n

She expressed disbelief at the idea, calling it “incredibly stupid” and saying she couldn’t imagine guests agreeing to such an arrangement. “I thought I had heard everything, but this takes the cake,” she added.<\/p>

The post ignited mixed reactions in the comment section, with many criticizing the couple’s decision as being “in poor taste.”<\/p>\n

\u201cThat is WILD,\u201d one person commented. \u201cNever underestimate the audacity of some folks.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another agreed, calling the decision \u201cabsolutely bizarre\u201d and \u201cone of the wildest things\u201d they had ever heard. They added, “BUT… I almost have to respect the hustle. I mean, they managed to get people to pay a cover charge for their reception.”<\/p>\n

A few commenters joked about the situation, with one person saying, \u201cI\u2019d be so down minus the cover charge. I love being invited to crash parties. With that audacious cover charge, I\u2019d be making up scandalous stories about how I knew the happy couple.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another user shared a similar experience of unexpectedly attending a wedding reception at a nightclub. “I once went to a Great Gatsby-themed night at a swanky local bar. What I didn\u2019t know until after paying the cover charge was that it was actually a wedding reception. The couple had opened it to the public to recoup some of the costs without informing their invited guests. It was so weird having random people ask how we knew the couple.”<\/p>\n
