But&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/journal\/10.1111\/(ISSN)1530-0277\">new research<\/a>&nbsp;suggests that the type of mixer you use also plays a role in how the booze affects your body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A new study published in&nbsp;<em><a href=\"http:\/\/onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/journal\/10.1111\/(ISSN)1530-0277\">Alcoholism: Clinical &amp; Experimental Research<\/a><\/em>&nbsp;shows that drinking diet soda with liquor causes breath alcohol concentration to rise quicker than the exact same drink made with regular soda instead. Among participants, those drinking diet soda had peak breath alcohol concentration 18 percent higher than those on regular soda.<\/p><div class=\"toron-content_2 toron-entity-placement\" style=\"text-align: center;\" id=\"toron-3884077004\"><div class=\"toron-adlabel\">Advertisement<\/div><div id=\"toron-921052955\" style=\"margin-bottom: 11px;margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.houseofexte.com\" aria-label=\"312540299_10160139887181508_7414356484464021835_n (2)\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.torontonightclub.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/312540299_10160139887181508_7414356484464021835_n-2.jpg\" alt=\"\"  width=\"300\" height=\"274\"  style=\"display: inline-block;\" \/><\/a><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The participants were given 0.03 ounces of vodka per pound of body weight\u2014which for a 140 pound person is about 4.2 ounces of vodka\u2014mixed with either Squirt or Diet Squirt. Then, their breath alcohol concentration was tested over time.&nbsp;<strong>The results show the peak happened sooner, and was higher, for those suppin\u2019 diet mixers.<\/strong>&nbsp;The researchers also tested the participants\u2019 reaction times, using simple computer-based tests, and found that the diet soda drinkers\u2019 times were notably slower.
