When Uncle Pete’s announced its closure back in April, it felt like the end of an era for a business that had barely had time to build one. The focaccia-based Italian sandwich shop opened in Kensington Market in August 2025 and became an instant sensation, only to hit a wall on leases and renewals less than a year in. The good news: it’s back, and the location is a genuine plot twist.<\/p>\n

Starting Sunday, July 12, Uncle Pete’s has set up shop inside Track & Field, a well-known Little Italy nightlife staple and party bar. Founder Pete will be serving sandwiches starting at 11 a.m., bringing back the shop’s tightly edited, cult-favourite menu \u2014 including The OG (whipped lemon ricotta, mortadella, prosciutto, soppressata, chilli crisp, and arugula with balsamic glaze) and The Cure (mozzarella, all-beef patties, house-made marinara, Greek yogurt pesto crema, and mild chilli crisp).<\/p>

The pairing makes more sense than it might first appear. Uncle Pete’s built its reputation on scarcity and hype \u2014 regularly selling out, drawing lines, and becoming, at points, a genuine online flashpoint (its arancini-stuffed “Chino” sandwich sparked a full comment-section war earlier this year). Landing inside an established nightlife venue gives the brand a built-in audience without the overhead of chasing down a new permanent lease, at least for now.<\/p>\n

Whether this pop-up becomes a longer-term home remains to be seen, but for now, it’s the best news Toronto’s sandwich-obsessed corner of the internet has had in months.<\/p>
